U.S. consumer confidence hits 18-year high

KOMO News reports that the Conference Board said that its American consumer confidence index has continued its climb from September, reaching 137.9 last month. An index above 100 indicates that consumers are optimistic of the economic outlook and are more likely to make large purchases over the next year.
