Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Washington) recently met with Washington fruit and grain producers, agricultural stakeholders and members from Farmers for Free Trade to hear their concerns about the trade war between the U.S. and China and how it might affect the success of Washington farming. After meeting with U.S. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue last month, Rodgers said he has accepted the invitation to visit eastern Washington, and has discussed with President Donald Trump the importance of trade for rural areas of the country and those reliant on agriculture.
