T-Mobile and Sprint reach merger deal

On Apr. 29, T-Mobile and Sprint agreed to a $27 billion merger which would place the company as the second largest wireless carrier in the U.S. The newly combined T-Mobile company will serve 98 million customers, compared to Verizon’s 116 million and AT&T’s 93 million. In 2014, the companies abandoned plans to join forces because of likely pushback from Obama administration regulators.
