Statewide tourism bill clears both chambers

After concurring with House amendments, the Senate approved SB 5251 unanimously. The measure would create the Washington Tourism Marketing Authority to manage statewide tourism efforts and require the collection of a 0.2 percent of sales tax on lodging, car rentals and restaurants to fund the statewide marketing plan. The measure is now awaiting signatures from House and Senate leaders.
