Washington apple growers expand their varieties

The Yakima Herald reports that the Red Delicious apple will no longer dominate the apple sector in Washington, making way for other varieties. Many growers say they will no longer plant Red Delicious or Gala apples and will instead focus on different types of apples such as Honeycrisp which are expected to slowly outpace the quantity of currently popular varieties.
